The Bronx Move NY Facts & Benefits

The Move NY Fair Plan just makes sense! Enough is enough. The plan put forth is a well thought out transportation policy and it represents an opportunity for discussion and a course of action that will address the city’s gridlock and the high price of tolls and MTA fares that significantly affect outer borough residents.

Proposed Transit Investments

  • New Metro-North Penn Access line with four new stations in the East Bronx
  • Expanded ferry service
  • Continued expansion of Harlem/Bronx section of Second Avenue subway

What is a Toll Swap?

The Move NY Fair Plan charges more where there’s more traffic and better transit options, and lowers tolls on all other MTA bridges. Tolls will be reduced by up to 48% on all MTA bridges; crossing into and out of Manhattan’s Central Business District, whether on a bridge or at 60th Street, will be tolled at the same rate as the Queens Midtown Tunnel and the Brooklyn Battery Tunnel.

Cost & Time Savings

  • Metro-North “City Ticket” 7 days a week, with fare within city limits reduced to $6.25 peak/$4.25 off-peak
  • More Express Bus service
  • Express Bus fares reduced from $6.50 to $5.50
  • More frequent and less crowded subway trains

Roads & Bridges Investments

  • $375 million invested annually
  • Sealing roads to prevent potholes; repairing potholes
  • Creating safer streets
  • Coating & lubricating bridge components so spans last longer
